Box of chicks dumped outside Hempstead pet shop
Nassau County SPCA
The Nassau County SPCA is looking for who left a box filled with 28 baby chicks outside a Hempstead pet shop.
It was a cardboard case of animal cruelty.
A paper box filled with 28 baby chicks was abandoned outside the Petland Discount store in Hempstead, the Nassau County SPCA said Saturday.
A $2,000 reward was posted after the discovery Friday morning, as authorities sought those responsible. The SPCA promised all calls to its 516-THE-SPCA hotline will be kept confidential.
The chicks were taken to Central Veterinary Associates in Valley Stream until new homes can be found for them.
