Apple rolls out iPhone 6 globally in 22 countries
Apple Inc. (AAPL) has rolled out the iPhone 6 in 22 countries after the latest update was released to iOS 8 users, and plans to reach 115 countries by year-end. The company faced a week of ' bendgate ' related complaints on the iPhone 6 Plus and offered apologies of the iOS 8.0.0 issues.
The latest iPhone 6 was released in major markets like Russia, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Apple stated that more than 600 people queued at Amsterdam Apple Store and 400 people at the Barcelona's Apple Store. Though the iPhone 6 had a record sale of 10 million units in a week, the company had to offer apologies after the issue of bending iPhone 6 Plus went viral in social media sites.
'Apple customers are probably some of the most demanding consumers in the world,' said Francis Sideco, an analyst at IHS.
However the company stated that only nine complaints were received relating to iPhone 6 bending issues. Stress tests on the new devices showed that the smartphones had a tough build similar to the HTC One M8. A Consumer Reports magazine also mentioned that the iPhones were tougher contrary to the complaints on the internet. More sales are expected in the coming days with the global rollout of the devices.
Apple has planned to release the iPhones in 115 countries by the end of the year. Other countries in the current global rollout include Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Taiwan, Turkey, Spain and others. Developers who released the iOS 8.0.2 update for fixing network issues stated that it was a normal part of the process for fixing glitches. Apple also added that the 40,000 developers were waiting for something to happen when the device went to a public release.
