Looking for a job this holiday season? Macy's is hiring

Macy's Inc. plans to hire 86,000 seasonal employees at Macy's and Bloomingdale's stores, call centers, distribution centers and online fulfillment centers nationwide for the 2014 holiday shopping season. This is an increase of 3.6 percent of seasonal workers last year.

In San Antonio and Austin areas alone, the company plans on hiring 1,500 seasonal workers to staff its 13 Macy's store locations. Local store locations include North Star Mall, Ingram Park Mall, The Shops at La Cantera, Rivercenter Mall, South Park Mall and Rolling Oaks Mall.

Macy's Chairman and CEO Terry J. Lundgren said the company typically offers existing employees the chance to work extra hours on the holidays first, then the company will supplement each store's headcount with seasonal workers.

Macy's (NYSE: M), which has corporate offices in Cincinnati and New York, had sales of $27.9 billion, 840 stores in 45 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico and a full-time staff of about 172,500 workers in fiscal 2013.
