Dodgers LHP Ryu looks to begin throwing program
CHICAGO (AP) -- Dodgers pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu is expected to begin a throwing program in the next couple days and thinks he will be able to return this year.
Ryu was removed from his start last Friday at San Francisco after just one inning due to shoulder inflammation. The left-hander then had a cortisone shot on Monday.
Ryu says Friday he is feeling a lot better and is hoping to return soon, but he is not sure when.
He says the injury is similar to when he went on the disabled list in May with shoulder inflammation, but he thinks he will be able to return more quickly this time because of the shot.
Los Angeles had a 2 1/2-game lead over San Francisco in the NL West heading into Friday's game at the Cubs.
