Hilary Duff Says Naked Photos Are Fake, Contacts FBI
A representative for Hilary Duff is threatening legal action against websites that try to pass off nude images of the star as real.
Duff, 26, was included in a large list of female celebrities who had had their privacy invaded when a hacker published naked photos of them.
Many of the nude images were published on 4Chan.org on Sunday after a hacker reportedly stole them from the stars' Apple iCloud storage accounts. On Friday, a new group of nude images, said to be of Duff, were released.
According to TMZ.com, Duff's spokesperson insists the female featured in the naked neck-down photos are not the actress because the individual does not have any of the star's 'defining birthmarks or tattoos,' such as an anchor on the inside of her left ankle.
The actress's rep has reached out to the FBI to alert them to the fake images and will be taking 'legal recourse' if anyone tries to pass them off as authentic.
Duff isn't the only star who claims the naked photos are fake. Pop star Ariana Grande and actress Yvonne Strahovski have also denied the nude images released of them are real.
Meanwhile, publicists for Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton have confirmed their nude photos are genuine and have also asked the FBI to help find the perpetrators.
