Jimi Jamison, the lead singer of arena rock band 'Survivor,' has died of a heart attack at age 63, according to the band.
Though he joined after the band's biggest hit, 'Eye of the Tiger,' was released, Jamison spent years as the main vocalist for the pop rockers after joining in 1984 and had even performed Saturday night in Morgan, Calif., south of the Bay Area.
His booking agent confirmed to TMZ the singer died sometime Sunday night. Jamison was found dead at his home in Memphis, Tenn. by his son around 1 a.m. Monday, WMC-TV reported.

Jimi was a friend to everyone he met. He was a loving father and grandfather and was always a person who valued people more than anything else,' family attorney Jeff Ward said in a statement to the TV station. 'The family has asked for privacy during this extremely difficult time. In lieu of any demonstrations of sympathy, the family has requested that donations be made to Jimi's favorite charity, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.'
Jamison fronted the band when it recorded 'Burning Heart' for the movie 'Rocky IV,' as well as 'Is this Love,' and 'The Moment of Truth,' a single featured in 'The Karate Kid.'

As a solo performer, Jamison co-wrote and sang 'I'm Always Here,' the theme for 'Baywatch.'
The band reunited in recent years and was in the midst of a tour. After a stop in Reno, Nevada on Friday, Jamison and other bandmates were photographed paling around outside the Morgan Hill Downtown Amphitheater with former basketball player Dennis Rodman before a show.
The group had a two week break before resuming the tour in Colorado.
