Matthew McConaughey Won't Be Stripping Off For Magic Mike XXL
By Joanna Crawley On
While Channing Tatum pretty much promised fans that the whole cast of Magic Mike would be back for the follow-up XXL, director Gregory Jacobs has just confirmed Matthew McConaughey won't be stripping off for the sequel!
Matthew played the scene-stealing strip club entrepreneur Dallas in the 2012 movie, but it sounds like Jacobs has a very different vision for the hugely anticipated sequel - and that includes no Dallas.
Jacobs, who has taken over from original director Steven Soderbergh, confirmed the news in an interview with IndieWire this week, as shooting kicks off on the movie. The good news though is that Channing, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello coming back, but the director is keen to warn fans that the new movie will be 'very different.'
'It's road trip movie and put it this way, it's different enough that once you see it you'll understand why we made a sequel,' he said. 'No one will be accusing us of making the same movie twice.'
Jacobs also teased in the interview that new cast members will be joining, but he can't say who yet as they're still working out deals for the new additions.
Jacobs and co will be hoping the new movie is the same success story as the first film which grossed a massive $167 million on a modest $7 million budget, and thrust Channing into the limelight. Magic Mike XXL is due to hit cinemas on July 1, 2015.
