NBC Announces "SNL Vintage"
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Saturday Night Live, NBC will be airing 40 classic episodes of the hit late night series. 'SNL Vintage' will air every Saturday night at 10 pm et on NBC and feature one episode from each of Saturday Night Live 's 40 seasons.
SNL Vintage starts this Saturday with an episode from Season 1. Executive producer Lorne Michaels has chosen episode 7 from the launch year with host Richard Pryor and musical guest Gil Scott-Heron. This episode originally aired December 13, 1975. It features the famous 'Word Association' sketch with Richard Pryor and Chevy Chase which was written by Paul Mooney.
On October 4th, SNL Vintage will come from Season 25. It will feature host Christopher Walken and musical guest Christina Aguilera. That was the show that included the 'Gotta Have More Cowbell' sketch.
Lorne Michaels hasn't planned out all 40 'Vintage' episodes yet, but said that the ones chosen will most likely be the one that was nominated for an Emmy Award from that particular season.
