Ex-Tennessee Titans kicker Rob Bironas has been killed in a car crash just seconds from his home, local police have confirmed. Reports from Metro Nashville Police suggest that the former NFL star was within a mile of his home with the collision happened, which may have been caused by Bironas 'traveling at a high rate of speed.'


'The SUV traveled off the right side of the road and struck a line of trees before it came to rest upside down in a large culvert area,' states the official police report.


No other vehicles were involved in the collision and no evidence has been found of drug or alcohol use, local law enforcement reported.


'We are deeply saddened to hear the tragic news from last night about Rob Bironas,' read the ensuing statement from the Tennessee Titans.


'Rob made a significant impact as a player in his nine years with the team and more importantly touched many lives in the Nashville community off the field. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Rachel, and his family during this very difficult time.'
