Tonight's Oregon State
LOS ANGELES -- It should be a nice evening tonight when Oregon State and USC square off in the Los Angeles Coliseum, which has been OSU's little house of horrors for more than five decades.
The Beavers last won there in 1960, and it's been one of the week's predominant story lines.
I don't know how much the series history will matter when the game begins and the pads collide.
More than anything else, the streak is about the 28 consecutive seasons that OSU football lost its way during the last quarter of the 20th Century.
The Beavers re-emerged from the wilderness about the time Pete Carroll revamped the USC program, and had the Trojans annually contending for national titles.
It's all in the rearview mirror now. At the moment the two programs are evenly matched.
There is no reason the Beavers can't win this thing, assuming the OSU defense continues to play as it has through the first three games of the current season and the offense remains balanced.
The Trojans are depth shy and USC coach Steve Sarkisian is feeling some pressure after a loss two weeks ago at Boston College.
Sarkisian has had 14 days to put things back together. I think he will have the Trojans ready to play.
Now, let's see what happens.
