After 13 months of repairs, a tunnel that carries trains between Brooklyn and Manhattan is set to finally reopen.
'N' service through the Montague Tunnel was expected to resume Sunday night, and the 'R' will resume Monday morning.
The tunnel was closed last August for repairs after it was flooded with 27 million gallons of water from Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
Governor Andrew Cuomo took a ride through the tunnel on a track inspection car Sunday before the tunnel's reopening.
He said the whole system needs to be improved to withstand the next major storm, but he said that is just in the planning stages.
'We're still working on the technology to do it,' he said. 'It's fascinating, when you think about it. Now, they designed the system and they're building it 100 years ago. There was no thought that maybe, there could be a flood on the top of Manhattan, because you would never have built the system or designed it the way you did.'
The tunnel was originally set to open next month, but the work was finished ahead of schedule.
