TUCSON - Sonny Dykes' return to Tucson couldn't have gone better. The California Golden Bears lead the Arizona Wildcats 28-6 at halftime from Arizona Stadium.

Cal scored in the first 0:43 of the game, taking a 7-0 lead on Daniel Lasco's 44-yard run. The score happened so quickly the Arizona Stadium crowd fell silent.

The Wildcats picked up one first down before being forced to punt on the ensuing drive. Cal scored on the very next play, an 80-yard touchdown pass from Jared Goff to Bryce Treggs giving the Golden Bears a 14-0 lead with barely three minutes gone in the game.

Arizona appeared to change their luck when Scooby Wright forced a fumble that was recovered by Jeff Worthy on the 8-yard line. The Cats were forced to settle for a field goal attempt which Casey Skowron shanked off the upright.

The Cats offensive woes continued when Anu Solomon, playing in just his fourth career game, threw an interception to end a Wildcat drive.

Rich Rodriguez finally saw his team gather points in the second quarter. The Wildcats drive stalled but Skowron was able to connect on a 39-yard field goal.

However, Goff and the Golden Bears made quick work of the next drive, using only five plays and 1:44 to score again when Goff connected with Stephen Anderson for a 26-yard touchdown strike. The score gave the Bears a 21-3 lead.

Following another Skowron field goal, Cal scored again when Goff found Chris Harper for a 30-yard score making it 28-6.

The Wildcats drove the length of the field before Solomon threw his second interception in the first half. Cal took a knee to end the half with a 28-6 lead.

The Golden Bears have 376 yards of total offense compared to 207 for the Wildcats. Cal has also outgained Arizona 82 to 58 on the ground. Jared Goff has thrown for 294 yards and three touchdowns. Anu Solomon has 149 yards and two interceptions.
