Vikings release WR Jerome Simpson after more drug trouble
Suspended Minnesota Vikings receiver Jerome Simpson was cited for three misdemeanor charges, including marijuana possession, after a traffic stop July 7.
The incident wasn't reported until Thursday, when a Twitter user began sending messages about it to reporters.
According to Hennepin County court records, Simpson faces three misdemeanors: violating a limited driver's license, possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle and open container in a motor vehicle. He's set to be arraigned Nov 3.
It's the latest substance-related incident involving Simpson, who is on probation in Kentucky for his felony drug plea in 2011 and was arrested for DUI in November.
Simpson, 28, is currently serving a three-game suspension and is eligible to return to the Vikings' roster after Sunday's game at New Orleans.
However, this may be the last straw with the Vikings.
