The Bulls got their wish and their man.
According to sources, the Bulls were working to finalize a trade to package their 16th and 19th picks to acquire Doug McDermott, whom the Nuggets drafted with the 11th pick in Thursday's NBA draft.
The trade would not only net the NCAA national player of the year but only add one rookie-scale contract to next season's roster at a time when the Bulls are preserving salary-cap space for a run at free-agent Carmelo Anthony.
Furthermore, the addition of McDermott, whom averaged 26.7 points last season at Creighton, could make Mike Dunleavy expendable in sign-and-trade talks.
McDermott, a 6-foot-8-inch, 225-pound forward, finished his collegiate career as one of only three players in NCAA history with 3,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
