Rob Lowe and family rescued by firefighters after 'horrific flooding' in France
Actor Rob Lowe had a close call while on holiday when flooding in Grasse, France, meant he and his family had to be rescued from their vacation home.
'This is is right outside the house,' Lowe wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of raging floodwaters. 'Was twice as high at the worst, just before sunrise.'
The actor's son Johnny posted a photo of the flood on his Twitter feed, thanking 'the fireman that saved us from this nightmare.'
'Happy for us all to be safe, thoughts to others,' he wrote.

Johnny Lowe had earlier posted a video of the flood online, writing that the experience was 'the scariest hour of my life,' while Rob posted an image of wife Sheryl Berkhoff on Instagram 'being rescued this am in the horrific flooding in Grasse France. Glad we are safe. Grateful to first responders.'
That post has since been deleted.
The Lowe family - which also includes son Matthew - apparently had reason to be concerned: according to a source in the region quoted by People magazine, the flood was spurned by 'the biggest storm of the year' in the area.
'Water rising like that can be terrifying,' the source said. 'There's only one rescue station in Grasse, and this storm required assistance from several other regional units. We were called out on a lot of emergency rescues yesterday.'
The famous family's stop in France came after a European vacation that included stays in Venice and London.
