Singer Melissa Etheridge ties the knot
Two days after Melissa Etheridge and partner Linda Wallem turned 53, the party continued when the pair were married on Saturday night. It took place at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California reports People.
All four of Etheridge's children participated in the ceremony: Bailey Jean Cypher, 17; Beckett Cypher, 15; and twins Miller Steven Etheridge and Johnnie Rose Etheridge, 7.
Among the guests were Jane Lynch, Chelsea Handler, Rosie O'Donnell, Whitney Cummings, Peter Facinelli and recording artist Sia.
During the intimate nuptials, Etheridge sang Wallem a new song written especially for her which the singer had never performed before.
'It was such a magical moment,' a guest told the magazine. 'The ceremony was such a beautiful start to the night. The setting was perfect. It was something Melissa and Linda wanted early on. It was as perfect as they envisioned.'
The rock singer and 'Nurse Jackie' creator had been pals for more than ten years before they become romantically involved in 2010. Last June they announced their engagement following the Supreme Court's ruling regarding gay rights.
'I look forward to exercising my American civil liberties,' Etheridge tweeted after the Defense of Marriage Act and California's Proposition 8 were deemed unconstitutional. Those liberties, she concluded, included 'getting fully, completely and legally married.'
Earlier this week Etheridge, who has a new album coming out September 30, hinted that something special was brewing by tweeting, 'Ok, so I might be singing a brand new song that no one has ever heard to someone special at a intimate gathering Saturday...just wanted to share.'
